Welcome to my eighth monthly review report on Tropical U.P! As I have indicated in my first monthly review, I will post a monthly overview of all the things that I have done the past month. In this post, you can learn about my successes and struggles and how far I am from realizing certain goals.
You might ask why I want to share these details with you in the first place? First and foremost, they are here because they help me with keeping track of my progress. Once I put it online, there is no denying to the things that I should have done, but also sharing the things that went well for me.
The second reason I decided to put these reviews online is that I thought it would be interesting for you to follow changes that are ongoing in my life. As might know, I was laid off earlier and since then a lot has happened. I hope that these reviews encourage and motivate you to chase your dreams.
Big Changes and Alternative Focus
I am very ashamed but unfortunately, I have spent a lot less time on Tropical U.P the past few months and I feel terrible about it. A lot of things happened and because of many reasons, I did not have as much time available as I should have. I know I have preached many times how important it is to be consistent, which makes it even harder for me to admit that I have failed my readers.
Taking care of personal business and building our new lives in The Netherlands have been the main reasons that I was able to dedicate less time. Furthermore, I just started a new job, which makes it even harder to focus as much on Tropical U.P as I wanted. Things are finally more stable now and I am looking forward to picking up the old pace that you were used to.
I have not posted anything the past month, however, that does not mean that Tropical U.P as a whole stopped developing. There is a big growth through most of my channels and I am truly grateful for all the positive response that I have been getting.
By far my biggest growth driver is my YouTube channel, which is growing by the day. My Channel broke the first 20K views today and this is truly beyond my wildest imagination. I know this number is very low compared to other channels, but I like the idea that I potentially helped to solve a problem of all those viewers and that feels amazing!
I have made a few changes in my monetization strategy for my videos, which resulted in a conversion for some affiliate income streams. I am still experimenting with what works best but currently, I am making about a dollar per 100 views, pretty good! Unfortunately, I have only implemented this recently which means that I have not fully converted foregoing views, well it serves a lesson I guess.
A lot of my YouTube traffic is being directed to Tropical U.P, which means that my website is seeing stable growth and interaction, all good stuff I would say.
Lessons on Income
Another important thing that I have noticed lately is the importance of having a stable side income. I started Tropical U.P as a passion project but I soon realized that especially in the beginning it is difficult to live off it. Depending on the type of business you plan to build it might be important to look at your Minimum Viable Income, but still it is important to have a stable main or side income.
Having graduated only a few years ago, I think it is important to keep developing my skills and further explore my interests. Don’t get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy working on Tropical U.P, but I am not in a place that I can do this as my main job. Frankly I don’t want to also.
Many famous bloggers have stressed the importance of having a stable income source next to starting your own business and I couldn’t agree more.
What Will I Focus on Now?!
Now that things have settled more I am developing new content and I am working on some interesting ideas that I have. I am shifting some more of my focus to online tutorials as I am getting good responses and I enjoy making them.
Being less active for some time also showed me what works well in the automated machine that I developed and what doesn’t, I know that there are some good lessons to be shared here! I am looking forward to sharing more in the future.
I want to thank everybody for their patience and see you soon!
